Has anyone ever wondered well into adulthood, what do I want to be when I grow up? Apparently, that’s where I have been in my quest to make my business an extension of my life’s passion.

Many of you know me as the owner of My Turkey Hollow Twilight Zone LLC, Vendor at the Freight House Farmers Market, Organic Vegetable Grower for my CSA called the Nosh Box, Wellness Advocate for doTerra Essential oils, or maybe have been a patient of mine during my nursing career.

While I have absolutely loved doing all those things, I feel I haven’t been able to convey the message I wanted to in those individual roles. My goal has always been to help others live a more organic and healthy lifestyle.

I’ve been a nurse for longer than I would like to admit, and it was through that career that I realized what piece is missing from traditional health care, or what I would challenge could be called “sick” care which is simply the management of disease, not health.

Last year (2022) I completed my certification as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. My goal is to use that certification, along with the knowledge I have from my very long career as an RN, to encourage others in finding true health. But do not misunderstand, I am not here to diagnose or treat your particular illness, and I do not advise that you stop taking prescription medications without working with your health provider, but instead to lead in a manner that can enhance and improve your health so you can change those recurring patterns that keep you from feeling at your optimal health.

The thing is, we all have the ability to be our own health coach. But there is more to the picture than the food you are putting on your plate. There is an entire circle of life that, if not nurtured properly, directly affects how we are feeding ourselves both emotionally and physically.

An easy example most of us can relate to would be when we are stressed out about a situation and we suddenly realize, we have consumed the entire quart of ice cream or the whole pizza.

Stress can come in many forms. What is happening in our job, our relationships, our finances, or in our spiritual lives, for example? If we don’t take care of those primary needs, we can’t take care of our secondary needs. Those relationship, career, financial, and spiritual struggles need to be addressed. When we care for our basic needs, that is called self-love. If you can feed those things which I am calling “primary food”, you can love yourself enough to feed yourself healthy nutritious foods which I am calling “secondary foods” or change the patterns in your daily life that a sabotaging your health.

But how? When you go to your doctor he or she will tell you what you should do, but, in a 10 or 15 minute visit, they can’t tell you how to do it. There just isn’t time. And what you may not know is that many times, your doctor or nurse practitioner is actually double booked, meaning that they have 2 patients scheduled in that 15 minute block of time. That’s what we are going to explore here. The how. Helping you change patterns that are keeping you in a state of disease and encourage healthy habits to bring you to a place of wellness.

So in renaming this website, I am including my health coach title (Wellness Untamed) with my gardening title (My Turkey Hollow Twilight Zone) to combine my two passions into one main objective . . . health and wellness which was my original plan in the beginning!

While I am still out there in social media under “My Turkey Hollow Twilight Zone”, in addition to updating my website you can find me on Facebook, Instagram, and on my brand new YouTube channel “Wellness Untamed“.

Currently, this website can be found under myturkeyhollowtwilightzone.com and wellnessuntamed.net

I hope you will come along with me on this journey. There is so much to share and learn from one another!

Peace Out!
